I wrote the foreword to the Omnibus Remastered edition of Karl Bartos's The Sound of the Machine: My Life in Kraftwerk and Beyond. I didn't expect to see my name on the cover like that. Look mum, full honorific!
It's a great book that is about much more than Kraftwerk... it is also a treatise on listening, and a warning about what happens to us, and to the art we make, when we defer our humanity (and our human connections) to technology. And Karl's writing about the Kraftwerk years, usually flattened into myth, are restored here to the grain of labour. Highly recommended.
